Kids’ Yoga Journey: I Am Love

Description of  Kids’ Yoga Journey: I Am Love as posted on iTunes:

In the first interactive yoga iPad application just for kids, we step onto our magic mat and fly through the ancient lands of Egypt.  We are as strong as a mountain, as silly as a Laughing Dove and as playful as a dolphin. Dive deep into the Red Sea to discover indigenous curiosities, like a long-lost sphinx!  This beautifully hand-drawn Kids’ Yoga Journey incorporates 13 yoga poses for children demonstrated by children. Get ready to open your heart, expand your mind and reveal that YOU are the real treasure to love.

There are three ways to enjoy our story:
Listen to the book
Read the book
Autoplay

Additional Interactive Features:

Animated Poses: Follow the children as they do the real poses through the yoga journey.
Breath Affirmations: Press the Breath button on each page and you will hear a special message just for you!
Guess What? Press the Guess What button and learn an amazing new fact.

I am Love: Kids’ Yoga Journey was created to help kids feel great about themselves.  This iPad application empowers young children through strength, fitness and breath affirmations. Our story reinforces color recognition, introduces wondrous nature and animals, and reveals the cultural value of our world.  By embracing a myriad of learning styles, we reach the visual learner by images, the audio learner by reading the story, and the tactile learner by connecting the imagery and words with movement.  Parents, teachers and educators can take part in this interactive experience with the children by learning optimal alignment in the yoga poses and educational facts about how the pose affects the mind, body and spirit.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 4.5 million American children have been diagnosed with ADHD in the last four years, while 17% of children are considered overweight or obese. With over-stimulating schedules, ADHD, childhood obesity, anxiety, and depression on the rise, the spiritual and physical discipline of yoga can truly benefit the overall health of our children. Here’s How: Kids who practice yoga, experience a deeper awareness of their physical bodies, increased flexibility and concentration in a non-competitive and fun environment that encourages their spirits to be at peace.

We are a team of mothers, writers and artists who were inspired to collaborate on this children’s yoga application from an original yoga lesson plan written by Rachel Glowacki (RYT). As a Kids’ Yoga Director for Holy Yoga and a Master Holy Yoga teacher, Rachel has been teaching yoga for the past three years. She is passionate about connecting children to their hearts, minds and bodies through yoga and breath affirmations. Danielle Cather, certified kid yoga teacher, illustrator, and a co-creator brought this journey to life through whimsical illustrations and vibrant colors. Anne Tracy Emerson is an Emmy award-winning television producer and writer who wove this creative flow together for us as the editor and a co-creator. We look forward to continuing our journey with you. Namaste!

I Am Love: Kids’ Yoga Journey Reviews

“I am Love ~ Kids Yoga Journey iPhone App Review”

Source: Kids Yoga Guide

Casey’s Review

Currently my daughter, Grace who has been doing yoga with me for 5 years declared that she does not like yoga.  As you can image this is challenging for me as a yoga lover and an advocate for kids yoga. Gratefully I connected with Rachel Glowacki who has created with a team, an amazing kids yoga journey and Grace loves it! So much that she wanted to share it with the other kids in yoga class. The kids were fascinated with it. As a techie, who spends hours coaching people on creating website businesses, I am excited that my daughter is learning to use technology at a young age, and able to incorporate yoga into it with peaceful music, a great story and an exploration of far away lands.  There are many options on the app, read the book, have it read to you, go through the poses individually and even breathe with the kids. I highly recommend this application, as we know yoga is great in the studio, the classroom and in your own home with the technology that is always going to be present in their lives. Enjoy!

“Kids Yoga Journey App Review”

Source: tech4mommies

Kids’ Yoga Journey is a yoga company creating innovative ways to connect kids to movement, music, and art. Formed from a  team of combined creative moms, Kids Yoga Journey has created a series of story style apps, introducing kids to movement and Yoga.

Let me first start by saying my kids know absolutely nothing about yoga. They thought Yoga was a fictional cartoon bear who lived in the woods and strangely wore nothing but a white collar and tie.

Apparently that is Yogi, not Yoga.

The first app I reviewed was I Am Love for the ipad and iphone. (Also available for Android and Nook Color.) The app sells for $1.99 through iTunes.

I Am Love is the first ever kids’ yoga app to be developed for Apple products. It is an app empowering children to connect to technology in a healthy and holistic way, by creatively teaching them yoga poses and positions. The illustrations are calm and soothing, and the story style app makes stretching and breathing both fun and creative.

Even though yoga was new for us, my kids loved interacting with the book, and I loved their calm demeanor afterwards! Tech4Moms definitely gives this app an A. Great job Kids Yoga Journey!

The next app I reviewed for Kids Yoga Journey was their brand new app called I Am Energy. Priced at $1.99, this app is an illustrated game for kids on the iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone.

I Am Energy is full of interactive shapes and animals. My kids really enjoyed playing with the touch features, however I must say their attention span just did not last as long as I had hoped with this application. Also, I found the illustrations to not be as pleasing as the first book developed.

Overall, the purpose of this book seems confusing to me. With I Am Love, I was able to see direction and an educational purpose.  My kids did however enjoy the overall app and our review panel is awarding Kids Yoga Journey a B for this application.

Great job Kids Yoga Journey! I look forward to future application teaching kids more about the benefits of yoga and movement. To learn more about Kids Yoga Journey go here.

“Kids Yoga Journey Apps Bring Healthy Living to Tech Savvy Kids”

Source: Yoga In My School

Kids Yoga Journey has done a fabulous job of combining kids love for technology with holistic health. Two fabulous #kidsyoga apps allow children to practice yoga anywhere, anytime: at home, on vacation, in their room, at the park, etc. Kids Yoga Journey apps are playful, unique and child friendly. The creative team of Rachel Glowacki, Danielle Cather & Anne Tracy Emerson are making it easy to spread the kids yoga love by appealing to this tech savvy generation.

I am Love (Nook, Android, iPod) takes children on a magic yoga mat, Egyptian-inspired voyage filled with animals & nature. Vibrant hand-drawn illustrations guide children through a yoga flow which includes 13 poses and breathing techniques. Each page in this virtual yoga book includes a yoga-based activity, detailed pose instructions with photos of children doing the poses, a breath affirmation and a Guess What? information tidbit. With three options (listen, read, autoplay) visual, audio & tactile learning styles are addressed in a creative and fun manner.

I really like the story line and book feel of this app. Also the fact that children can read along or read alone. The pose instructions are clear without too much information to overwhelm young learners. And as a teacher I adore the fun facts included in the Guess What? section…
